Anthony Johnson

Artist

Anthony Johnson was born in Cape Town, South Africa. While still a student studying painting and sculpture at the Ruth Prowse School of Art, he was appointed lecturer in photography. He published his first book of landscapes at the age of 19.

His career as a professional photographer spanned several decades, during which he undertook numerous international assignments. He worked permanently in New York for five years before returning to Cape Town, where he now lives and works.

His art is informed by his photographic background including theatre, landscapes, travel and food, fashion and beauty, still life, gardens, architecture and interiors. His work has appeared on billboards, calendars, in store posters, packaging and in countless publications and more than 20 books.

His current focus is on producing images for Corporates combining his skills from art and photography.
